Future of Olympic Games

My day began with a maddening alarm clock at seven in the morning. If I did not get up in ten minutes, my i-bed would just thrust me out. I briskly stood up and directed to the telling-room where my family was watching the news.

“Today is May 15, 3012. We have only two months left before our 548th Olympic Games start. This event will take place in the Galaxy Village,” the reporter announced.

“Turn off,” my father suggested. Immediately, the air screen became inconspicuous. As we turned to the father, he pointed to the table which had a tangible screen. There appeared an image of a shabby paper book titled Park Ji-Sung’s Diary. Park Ji-Sung, a gold medalist of London Olympic Games 2012, was my prominent ancestor. Every time when the Olympics are close, my dad proudly displays this diary to us sharing its content. But only today, being seventeen years old, I have entirely realized the significance of it.

“As you know, this is our family’s heirloom,” continued my father, “Unfortunately, it is rather fragile to touch it; so my great-grandfather converted it into an electronic form many years ago. I decided to dedicate this day to our ancient relative by reading this diary.”

“July 27, 2012. London Olympic Games 2012 opened officially. I was anticipating this for so long. We had a meeting with other nations’ participants which made my heart beat so fast. The ceremony was amazing. I was able to feel the spirit of London …”

“July 29, 2012. Our team has had a football match with Brazil today. The match was so challenging. We WON! I don’t believe in our victory… “

“July 30, 2012. My friend Tony, who came as a visitor to London, called me this morning. Though we are here in London, we do not have any time to meet. I am busy with participating in my competitions; Tony is busy with watching his favorite competitions, such as taekwondo, judo, shooting and …”

I kept on reading and amazing, reading and amazing. I noticed that our ancestors selected a city on the Earth to hold the Olympic Games. Now it is even impossible to imagine because many centuries ago the International Galaxy Olympic Village started its function on the Moon. After launching this project, the necessity to drastically renovate a chosen city preparing it for the coming Games disappeared. Besides, our planet is so overpopulated today that hardly could one find the place which would accommodate such a huge number of people at once.

Since the Machine Rebellion, humans have learned to travel within the universe faster than a millennium ago. We can visit the Moon in a week by space elevators, which represent small cities, connecting the earth and the moon. You may easily book a room in an elevator hotel and enjoy your time while travelling. This is the cheapest means of space transportation.

Furthermore, nowadays people have been using biochemical energy for 900 years in order to save the Earth which was dangerously injured before. Therefore, the environment of our planet returned in the state it was before the Industrial Revolution. By many scientists’ efforts, the Moon’s air conditions have become appropriate for living there. However, though they didn’t manage to develop a gravitational force on the moon itself, they equipped some facilities, including the International Space Station, and the Olympic Stadium, with gravitational field grass. It is remarkable that due to the advanced technologies, Olympic Games look different today.

There are hundreds of sports events, categorized into three main divisions: traditional, imaginary, and non-gravitational. The traditional sports events are those generated from the past. They are generally held in the stadium with gravitational grass since only the earth’s condition is appropriate. The imaginary sports events joined after 2200, the year when rapid technological development began. These are famous and are in the limelight since disabled people may participate by using their own avatars with the same DNA. They can choose either mental or physical sports. The final category is non-gravitational, the newest system of sports, which developed as the Olympic Games began opening on the Moon, 80 years ago. These events do not require gravitation. One of them is “Water-Catcher,” an individual game. A participant along with other eight members should catch the water drops with a special basket in thirty minutes at about 32500m3 areas. The sports organizers develop novel events that are popularized year by year.

As a tradition of the far-away past, International Galaxy Olympic Committee has continued the opening and closing ceremonies. They are held under the non-gravitational conditions by using water droplets, firecrackers that are safe from burning, and other unique features of the Moon. Every ceremony starts with playing an anthem to our motherland, the Earth; it continues with raising the flags of all the countries-participants of the land – Britland, Russland, Korealand…land…land…

It was years later when I began recording my experience gained on the Moon during the Galaxy Olympics. For a year, every evening, I narrated my story and the device, like a smart sponge, collected all my words. Who knows? May be one day my descendants will read this story and feel the spirit of the past Olympic Games. If it has been preserved for so long, it will live forever!
